Performance Comparison of Mini-Rectangular Fin Heat Sinks Using Different Coolants: Supercritical CO2, Water and Al2O3/H2O Nanofluid

Mini-channel heatsinks have proven useful in removing high heat fluxes from microelectronic devices. However, further miniaturization of electronic devices requires significant enhancement the mini-channel heatsinks’ thermohydraulic characteristics, which depend greatly on coolant and geometrical configuration channel. Therefore, current study explores potential using different coolants (water, nanofluid supercritical carbon dioxide) various channel configurations. The effect configurations characteristics sinks is evaluated numerically for employing three flow rates (17 g/s, 34 g/s 50 g/s). Hence, effects fin height, spacing thickness, mass rate overall transfer coefficient (CHT) pressure drop (ΔP) are reported abovementioned coolants. It found that increasing increases both CHT ΔP. also noted height decreases ΔP, as opposed to causes ΔP increase. Among used, sCO2 shows superior performance compared water this based higher lower Moreover, evaluation criterion (PEC) than by 53% at 17 243% rate.
